School Supply Drive to Benefit our Community

As you are well aware, the financial situation of  schools is very challenging at this time. At the same time, we recognize that many families have suffered adverse financial impacts during this crisis as well. The CSN is organizing a school supply drive to benefit our school and community. Please see the attached letter for details on how you can help.

Dear FHM Community Member,

As you know, Spring Fling, the biggest fundraiser of the year, was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis last March.  While the upcoming school year will look different, the CSN’s focus remains on supporting Free Horizon Montessori through monetary and volunteer donations.

We anticipate some families may be facing unprecedented hardships because of the pandemic. The CSN and FHM want to maintain equitable access to educational materials for all students that attend our school.  We are sending out this special appeal for donations for “Pencils to iPads”. Primary and Lower Elementary students will be using an application called SeeSaw for remote learning and digital content. In a perfect world, every lower elementary child would have access to an iPad for use in person and in remote classrooms. The CSN has already given the school money to make an initial purchase of iPads, but more will be needed to reach a 1:1 ratio. With help from this fundraising campaign, the school can purchase an iPad, warranty, and protective case for every student who needs it.  There is an educational discount that makes the cost comparable to a less expensive tablet and will be a benefit to the school for many years.

There will also be smaller supplies that need to be purchased.  Every student will need their own supplies and carrying case.  The CSN would like to purchase extra items that can be handed out to any child that needs them.

Please consider donating any amount you can to help us meet our goal of ensuring that every student at FHM has the tools they need to learn safely. Donations can be made immediately via Zelle and sent to:  [email protected]Checks can also be mailed to the school.

Please know, there will be opportunities to volunteer virtually for those that cannot donate financially at this time.  The school has always relied on the generosity of our volunteers and this year it will be more important than ever.  There is a place for everyone in our community.  In fact, the CSN is looking for board members and volunteers to assist with fundraising, planning, and volunteer coordination. Every parent is automatically a part of the CSN and we need your help.

In Gratitude,

The Community Support Network
